Claudia Leal holds a PhD in Fundamental Moral Theology from the Accademia Alfonsiana in Rome. From 2012 to 2021, she served as a professor at the Faculty of Theology of the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile. She is currently an Ordinary Professor at the Pontifical Theological Institute John Paul II for Marriage and Family Sciences in Rome and an Invited Professor at the Faculty of Missiology of the Pontifical Urbaniana University. Since 2024, she has also served as a Consultor to the Dicastery for the Doctrine of the Faith.
Her academic work has focused on areas such as the sexual abuse crisis in ecclesial contexts, contemporary theories of justice, and Jewish-Christian dialogue. Her current research interests include narrative theology, feminism, motherhood, and ethics within family life. Her forthcoming publication is Il patrimonio sociale e spirituale della maternità: Fondamenti per un’etica cristiana.
Claudia Leal es doctora en Teología Moral Fundamental por la Accademia Alfonsiana de Roma. Entre 2012 y 2021, fue profesora en la Facultad de Teología de la Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile. Actualmente es profesora titular en el Pontificio Instituto Juan Pablo II para Estudios sobre el Matrimonio y Ciencias de la Familia en Roma y profesora invitada en la Facultad de Misiología de la Pontificia Universidad Urbaniana. Desde 2024, también se desempeña como Consultora del Dicasterio para la Doctrina de la Fe.
Su labor académica se ha centrado en áreas como la crisis de los abusos sexuales en contextos eclesiales, las teorías contemporáneas de la justicia y el diálogo entre judíos y cristianos. Sus intereses de investigación actuales incluyen la teología narrativa, el feminismo, la maternidad y la ética en la vida familiar. Su próxima publicación es Il patrimonio sociale e spirituale della maternità: Fondamenti per un’etica cristiana.
